What is the difference between socialism and communism?
Save The Drama For Your Momma!!! asked:
By the definitions they are very similar.
So those for socialism doesn’t that make you a communist?
I mean according to the definition it does.
Twelve Month Internet Millionaire

in cow terms
socialism; you have 2 cows you give one to your neighbour
communism; you have 2 cows, the goverment takes them and gives you milk
Right. Because you know what the definition is. Hahahaha. Hysterical.
Communism is a radical form of socialism. The two words don’t mean the same thing, any more than “dairy” and “cheese” mean the same thing. I’ll give you a while to figure that one out. Draw a Venn Diagram if you have to.
I believe the difference in socialism and communist
is that socalist is a situation in which the people choose to be that way and the government acts on it, as oppost to communist where the government acts out its own will against the people.
Socialism is when the government has ownership in businesses and banks so to have some say in things like policies, practices, and wages…but the government is not necessarily run by a single person so as to keep things open to debate.
Communism is a whole system in which everyone is equal, the government owns everything, it’s run by a single person by decree, and all wages, benefits, and rights are portioned out equally across the board.
America is neither. Nor will it be. conservatives like to say we are socialist, even though Obama doesn’t own a thing….nor will he be making any dictatorial decrees, nor can he bypass congress, nor can he extend his term.
Essentially, socialism with a gun pointed at your head.
That’s like saying there’s no difference between Republican, conservative, theocrat, or Libertarian. There are important distinctions that we shouldn’t just throw away for the sake of hyperbole.
For the most part you are correct; they are different, but inevitably go hand in hand. Socialism typically leads to Communism. Socialism is I suppose as explained above where having two cows, you give one to your neighbor. However, this form of operation tends to be unorganized and can get out of hand, therefore making the government step in to take control over the matters and forcing you to follow their ways. I don’t agree with the aspect of them taking your cows and giving you milk. It’s more like they take your cows tax the heck out of you and maybe consider giving you any milk back.
Think of it in medical purposes. Socialized medicine sounds good, but it will end up being unfair to people, because doctors will want to stay in certain areas, therefore leaving some areas without doctors. Therefore the socialism will turn into communism when the government sees that not all places have doctors and will force certain doctors to practice in certain areas. Then it will become too cumbersome for some doctors, so the government will next dictate to people which doctors they can see and when they can see them.
So yes…….. you are for the most part correct, one does lead to the other.
This is a very good question! . Karl Marx posited that socialism (the disappearance of class and therefore state) would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution after a transitional stage from capitalism called the dictatorship of the proletariat.
Communism (from Latin communis = “common”) is a socioeconomic structure and political ideology that promotes the establishment of an egalitarian, classless, stateless society based on common ownership and control of the means of production and property in general.
Seems to me they are one and the same!
