OK- it turns out that many doctors are now questioning Desiree Jenning's dystonia and it is now thought that most likely her illness did not result from the flu shot but is psychogenic in nature.

On to the H1N1 - Nothing is absolutely safe - even giving your child tylenol can cause bad reactions in some children. Does that mean that you will never give your child Tylenol based on that? Doubtful.

I went back and forth on this issue and whether or not to get the shot for my sons. Then I read an article that presented some information that I hadn't thought of. The flu vaccine is NOT new. The process is exactly the same as the regular flu vaccine - what differs is the inactivated h1n1 virus This vaccine contains the killed H1N1 virus.

So having said all of that - I will get my family vaccinated. We are considered at risk because of asthma. Even if that wasn't the case, I would anyway.

Personally I understand why people do not want to get the shot but do not condemn me for doing it.

No vaccination or medication is 100% safe. There are potential side effects to virutally every single vaccination and medication in existence. If that is the case, then definitely do not get the vaccination.

"Who isplanning to get the h1n1 vaccine for themselves and their child?". I am. My 2 and a half year old and myself had it last week. My daughter is asthmatic and we also have a 4 month old, so we are in the priority group. I personally know an 11 year old girl who dies from H1N1. Yes, I know it is extremely rare but if anything happened to my daughter and I could have prevented it and didn't, I would never forgive myself.

I am getting the vaccine. My daughter is 3 1/2 months. I want to try to protect her in any way that I can, and I feel this is a small chance that I am taking with my health. I've talked with a couple of doctors about it, and I feel that the best thing for me to do as a mom of an infant is to get the shot.

I've already had mine, and my son will be receiving it as soon as he's old enough, he's getting some immunity now because we ****** feed exclusively. I don't get all this hype; more people suffer horrible accidents related to driving, flying in airplanes and eating peanuts than suffer any ill effects from the flu vaccine. But I don't know of any peanut that could save somebodies life; go with the statistical reality and get the shot. If you waited for EVERYTHING to be proven 100% safe you wouldn't use a cell phone, microwave, drink alcohol, drink from aluminum soda cans, walk on a sidewalk, go outside without sunblock on, enter any body of water deeper than 1/2 inch without a life jacket, etc. since all of these things have yet to be proven totally safe.

We are all getting it in my house, my son got his 1st dose in his nose he ran slight fever that's all and the shot isn't available for my 8 month old yet but I want her to be protected from it. I believe benefits outweigh the risks in certain cases my kids are in the at risk age group for H1N1, that's what they will get, I will not get them a seasonal flu vaccine as they are perfectly healthy and it isn't necessary. I may consider it for my baby though.
