Swine flu: How long should I wait before going to the doctor?

swine flu
MissMely asked:

My 7 year old little sister has had 104 degree fever for about 4 hours. She has a slight cough, but no sore throat. She does feel fatigued. I am worried that it may be swine flu, but how long should I wait to go to the doctor? Should I wait at least 24 hours to see if the symptoms worsen? Is it possible that it may be a regular for allergies instead of swine flu?

Wait until Monday to see how your Sister feels… Once a Person HAS the Flu- there really isn’t too much the Doctor can DO about it- that you can’t do at Home ! So if you just take good care of your Sister over the Weekend- she’ll probably get better next week… :)

I would just call the Dr and ask them. You really cant just go see a Dr without calling them first. They are funny that way.

wait 24 hours after the onset of symptoms so since she’s had a fever of a 104 degrees for the past 4 hours then wait another 20 hours & just take her to a doctor only if symptoms worse, just so that your doctor can prescribe some medicine that will help make her feel better.
Your doctor will probably just simply prescribe her some Ibuprofen to make her feel better & mitigate her Flu symptoms such as her cough & fever.
